Ybess [ɯ.ˈbɛsː] of Kassi is the mother of Dlyss. The lone priestess of the Siathar in her native village, she is a relatively amiable person in most circumstances but intolerant of the existence of witches.

In many of the futures seen by the burgeoning Oracle Dlyss was the sight of her mother - once she became aware of her daughter's abilities - ending her life. Dlyss therefore fled home to wander across the continent before Ybess' suspicions could solidify. It is thought that, to this day, Ybess is not certain what happened to Dlyss.

Should Ybess and Dlyss meet again, the results are likely to be ugly.
