Personal history
Lidraf's life was destabilized at an early age due to an outbreak of the clan wars that regularly plagued Olin Feddlir. He developed an icy, nihilistic contempt for his society and, in early 53 Cloud, was made an offer by Hunger: the power to destroy, in exchange for a vow to use it.
Lidraf was unusually strategic for one of the Doomtouched, realizing that simply exercising his new powers without direction would limit his total destructive potential. With this in mind, he managed, with some effort, to make his way into the service of an influential clan mother as a torturer and executioner. He allowed himself to be induced by the Matriarch of Olin Feddlir to change allegiances, dissolving his former employer in the process, and work diligently for her, slowly increasingly the scope and skill of his abilities as did so, while thinning out the ranks of her politically powerful enemies. Having built a network of contacts among her guards, on 55 Cloud 13:37 he proceeded to wipe out the Matriarch and all her clear heirs, and assumed control of the country.
As autocrat, he instituted a theocracy based around a cult of Shaçrin, the Feddlic goddess of death, to which had been added the innovation of appeasing her through takma sacrifice; he preached that life was pain and wretchedness, that joy could not exist except through increasing the misery of others, and that therefore the sending of the living to oblivion was not only the ultimate good, but the only true good.
For nearly one and a half cycles, Lidraf ruled over Olin Feddlir, personally participating in many of the sacrifices through the use of his powers. As time passed, he became increasingly indiscriminate in his designation of targets, alienating even those who still voluntarily associated with him, but his abilities had strengthened to the point that he proved capable of defeating even coordinated attacks without assistance. He became decreasingly interested in anything but death, and his appearance became more and more shadowy and indistinct.
On 57 Cloud 3:29, he chose one last great exercise of his power. The country of Olin Feddlir was erased from the map; its towns and villages disappeared; its life forms dissolved into ash and smoke, borne away on the wind; its very soil was scoured, in some cases down to bedrock. The resulting desolation is now known as the Silent Lands, though in the intervening time life has slowly recolonized the area.
