Ekhtun

Ekhtun the Soldier is a member of the Eminent Court, and therefore one of the divine husbands of the Most Eminent in the imperial_religion. He is considered the counterpart of his wife's aspect of the Great Warrior.

Ekhtun is a figure of battle, much like His counterpart; but where the Warrior is powerful and imposing, a living shield between enemy and people, Ekhtun is mobile, quick, and clever. He is called upon in battle or strife to defeat an enemy not through brute force, but through physical and mental agility. As such, He is favored not only by the lightly-armed males that provide militaries with many of their members, but also by those trying to think their way through a problem, as well as those whose professions involve a certain amount of cunning or planning to meet their challenges: hunters, trappers, scouts, assassins, spies. Low-ranking female warriors do not often call upon Ekhtun, since they often feel his influence does not play to their strengths, but the wiser ones, as well as generals and other military leaders, may find His ability to anticipate an enemy's actions - and plan His own - beneficial.

There are some temples of Ekhtun, but oddly enough, they tend to be less concentrated in those societies that are more militarized or based on conscription of males; this is because, in such situations, the priests of Ekhtun conduct most of their activities among the troops themselves, and use temples only for those functions and situations where a permanent structure is necessary. More peaceful settlements often have more, and more elaborate, temples, geared toward the general population.

Ekhtun is represented as a blue takma clad in leather or fabric armor, frequently in flight. His totem is the barethum (a type of atlatl intended for throwing darts or short javelins).
