Ancient Tongue

In the context of the Amberworld continuity, the Ancient Tongue was historically the native language of dragons of Avishraa. Although it remained in use among non-Chosen nearly to the exclusion of any other language, among the Chosen its dominance declined over the ages, giving way to speech derived from human languages, particularly among Davir Sria. The Hzataalar Kaea, on the other hand, glorified it as a reminder of past greatness, and the powerful and influential among them cultivated its use as a mark of superiority.

In the context of the worldbuilding project, its vocabulary may end up being recycled into imperial on a case-by-case basis.
