====== Order ====== ====== Order ======
 +The Extrinsic: known as **Order** is one of the oldest and most powerful beings in existence; it, along with its sibling extrinsic:Chaos, came into being at the moment of the shattering of the Whole.

 +Order is the embodiment of organization, patterns, and hierarchies, and is also one of the progenitors of all other Extrinsics.
 +
 +===== Involvement =====
 +The influence of Order upon the realms of the universe:Froth is so utterly pervasive that it can be hard to point to any specific example. Order exists wherever the small is bound together into the great; it lies within the structure of molecules and the smallest agglomerations of cells, all the way up to galaxy filaments millions of lightyears across.
 +
 +It vies strongly for influence with its sibling Chaos, which is similarly pervasive, and it is difficult, if not impossible, to find any place where they are not both present; but Order's influence is strongest where patterns are multilayered, complex, internally categorized, and have some spatial, mathemetical, or metaphorical regularity.
 +
 +===== Personality =====
 +Order is often perceived by mortals to be humorless, obsessed with procedure, strict to the point of being authoritarian, and fairly unconcerned with individual needs in the face of grander designs. It appreciates mortals entirely for their utility, and unless an individual has turned out to be important on their own, is concerned with their actions mainly in the aggregate. She is not as easily offended as her child extrinsic:Exchange; failure to adhere to her standards will annoy her, but she feels that to take it personally is beneath her, even when intentional. //Especially// when intentional.
 +
 +It is also unlike Exchange in that it is not often bound by notions of fairness, except toward fellow Extrinsics. Mortals exist to be used or left aside as necessity requires. Giving aid to one is a rare event, usually only if it advances some goal.

 ===== Realm of Order ===== ===== Realm of Order =====
-The universe:Froth - the mortal realms - is the collection of all that we think of as the multiverse, home to uncounted worlds and unimaginably vast spacesBut those who think of the Froth at all think of it as its own entityrather than what it really is the meeting and mingling of greater and immeasurably older forceslike the foam on the crests of waveswhich is a mixture of the air above and the sea below.+
 +Order's domain is meticulously and precisely arranged, and is suffused with the subtle and complicated patterns of its thought and presenceAside from Order itself, it is inhabited by life of a sort, though of a very different kind than that in the mortal realms. It thinks, in a fashion, but has no free will. It acts, in its waybut it is in the way preordained for it. It breeds at precisely determined intervals, and reacts in set ways - 'if X happensthen do Y'. The mind of Order guides them alland one would not be far off to describe them as subroutines of its will, executing the tasks appointed to them.

-The Realm of Order, the domain of its titular Extrinsic, is where large part of the great mixture comes from. At the very heart of Order is that everythingevery speck of beinghas its place, its time, and its role. It would therefore be quite wrong to say that space and time have no meaning in the Realm of Order; they are just a very different meaning than that found in the mortal realms.+In the eyes of mortalsit is often parsed as a great palace full of unusually consistent servantsor a courtroom, or a machine full of living cogs. Those who spend too long in this realm tend to be crushedlike foreign matter between powerful gears; orif sympathetic enough to its nature, assimilated, brought into compliance, and becoming new inhabitants of the realm, identical to the rest.

-All that is born from the Froth is composed of both Order and extrinsic:Chaos. For a mortal to physically manifest in the Realm of Order unprotected is to leave behind all in them that is Chaoticand it is safe to say that no one subject to this fate returns alive; they, and every atom of their being, are drawn into the great structure and its measured pace.+===== Mythological equivalents =====
 +Order rarely deigns to reach out to mortals in person, and few mortals that have entered its realm have returned to tell the tale. Nonetheless, the accounts of its sibling extrinsic:Chaos, coupled with observations about the nature of the universehave sometimes given mortals some distorted notion of Order's existence.

-There remain only two ways to survive the Realm of Order unscathed. The first involves rare and powerful magic, exercised by third party, which places the visitor in a protective cocoon; but in such a situation the visitor does not experience time until returned (again by a third party) to the Froth. The second involves the goodwill of Orderwho can act to keep a mortal intact if it so chooses - and, indeed, if it notices in time - but will typically only do so to direct them to leave immediately. +Where it appears, Order generally manifests as deity of measurementjudgmentgovernmentor organization.
-  +
-Those very few of the second sort who have been and returned have difficulty describing what they see. There is talk of being suspended amid vast patterns of lightsymmetries both gross and subtleand crystalline harmonies.+

-While there can be said to be life in the Plane of Order, it is of a very different kind than that in the mortal realms. It thinks, in a fashion, but has no free will. It acts, in its way, but it is in the way preordained for it. It breeds at precisely determined intervals, and reacts in set ways - 'if X happens, then do Y'. +  * mythology:imperial_religion:lamnar:seluurin, the Lamna of order in the mythology:imperial_religion:
-  +
-The mind of Order guides them all, and one would not be far off to describe them as subroutines of its will.+
